About The Position

The Employment & Training Specialist 1 (Job Developer) works with referrals from the Department of Developmental Services to support individuals with vocational needs in securing and maintaining community-based employment, and striving towards independence. This role involves case management, developing employment relationships between clients and community employers, and providing access to various employment, job training, and educational opportunities. The specialist will collaborate closely with State funding sources and assist clients with essential job-seeking skills such as resume writing, interview techniques, travel training, and job etiquette. The position also requires creativity in providing vocational guidance, job development, job placement, job coaching, and maintaining positive customer relations with employers.

Requirements

Ability to use computers to include Microsoft Word, data entry, email, and internet essential.
Must have a valid driver's license, 3 years driving experience, good driving record, use of vehicle and willingness to transport participants in personal vehicle.
Must be able to travel within the region to access residential settings, employers, offices and community organizations.

One year of human service experience desired.
Knowledge of and respect for diverse populations.
Fluency in Spanish strongly encouraged but not required.

Responsibilities

Work with referrals from the Department of Developmental Services supporting people with vocational supports in securing employment, maintaining employment and striving towards independence with community-based employment.
Case manage and develop employment relationships between clients and community employers, providing access to an array of employment, job training, and educational opportunities.
Work closely with State funding sources in a collaborative team approach.
Assist clients with a variety of job seeking skills; resume writing, interview skills, travel training and job etiquette.
Get creative with providing; vocational guidance, job development, job placement, job coaching and customer relations with employer.
