About The Position

As an Employment Specialist, you will assist adults with psychiatric disabilities to develop interest and plans to reintegrate back to school, the workforce, or volunteer positions. Duties include, but may not be limited to: conducting educational, functional, and vocational assessments for clients; helping clients develop vocational/educational goals and plans to facilitate reintegration into the workforce using a supported employment based model; assisting clients in developing resumes and linking them with other employment resources; developing networks to increase job development and placement within the community; working with employers and clients to facilitate and maintain job placements; providing employment case management and support for clients at employment sites; and driving clients to their appointments as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a mental health-related field such as Social Work, Psychology, or Vocational Rehabilitation preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with a mental health population, especially with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders is strongly preferred.
  • Providing employment services with vocational rehabilitation experience strongly preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • High degree of motivation, encouragement, compassion and patience is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • A valid California driver's license in good standing and eligibility to be an approved CRF driver is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position.
  • Ability to pass criminal/background clearance.
