About The Position

As an Employment Specialist at Pathfinder, you will support individuals with disabilities in discovering meaningful employment and building successful careers within their communities. This role blends relationship-building, coaching, and advocacy to help people achieve independence, purpose, and long-term success in the workplace. As an Employment Specialist at Pathfinder, You Will: Individual Planning & Career Development Partner with individuals, families, and support teams to assess interests, strengths, and support needs Develop personalized employment and support plans through Discovery and assessment processes Support ongoing career development through job readiness training, soft skills development, and career exploration Job Development & Employer Partnerships Build and maintain strong relationships with local employers Identify and secure quality employment opportunities aligned with individual preferences and abilities Conduct job site, task, and workplace culture analyses to ensure strong job matches Educate employers on inclusive hiring, job restructuring, and job carving strategies On-the-Job Support & Coaching Provide training, systematic instruction, and positive behavior supports as needed Facilitate natural supports and positive relationships between individuals and coworkers Offer ongoing technical assistance to employers and workplace teams Coordination, Documentation & Resources Coordinate with Vocational Rehabilitation, schools, families, and community partners Assist individuals with benefits education, transportation planning, and financial literacy resources Maintain timely documentation, billing entries, and progress reports Regularly seek feedback from individuals served and respond to concerns professionally The Impact You’ll Make as an Employment Specialist: Help individuals with disabilities achieve meaningful, competitive community employment Empower people to build independence, confidence, and social connections Strengthen inclusive employment opportunities within the local community Advance Pathfinder’s mission of person-centered, people-first services Pathfinder’s mission is to strengthen communities by enabling people with disabilities or economic challenges to achieve autonomy, inclusion, and stability.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Demonstrated ability to support people with disabilities.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of behaviors that limit successful employment.
  • Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and safe driving record.
  • Basic language, written, math, and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation.
  • Ability to speak, hear, and read the English language.

  • Prefer knowledge of a variety of business operations.
  • Possesses "sales oriented" skills.
  • Tact, poise, and judgment in working with agencies, employers, referrals, and school personnel as well as their significant others, co-workers, and families.
  • Demonstration of strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work non-standard/flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
