The Employment Specialist position at Families Forward, a member of The Fedcap Group, is designed for a mission-driven individual who is passionate about helping others overcome barriers to achieve their employment goals. This role is integral to the workforce development program model at the Brewer, Maine opportunity center. The Employment Specialist, also known as a Career Advisor, will provide exemplary employment-focused case management services to individuals receiving TANF benefits. The primary objective is to assist these individuals in addressing barriers and achieving their employment goals, whether they are considered 'job-ready' or face various challenges. In this role, the Employment Specialist will conduct comprehensive intakes to help participants understand and explore their needs, strengths, interests, aptitudes, experiences, and capabilities. They will partner with participants to develop a service plan, known as a Family Contract Amendment (FCA), which outlines both short-term and long-term employment goals that align with the participants' skills and preferences. Regular meetings will be held with participants to document their progress towards these goals and to provide ongoing orientation regarding TANF and program requirements. The Employment Specialist will also build effective partnerships with external providers to ensure that participants have access to necessary services and supports. Maintaining exceptional record-keeping is crucial, as all communication and contact with participants and external partners must be documented in FedcapCARES. The role may involve making requests for support services such as childcare, transportation, and educational services to assist participants in meeting their FCA requirements. Additionally, the Employment Specialist will run reports in FedcapCARES and utilize data to plan daily and weekly tasks, ensuring that they uphold all agency policies and expectations in their work.
