About The Position

Resource people with disabilities to obtain and maintain stable integrated community employment. Essential Duties Coordinate community employment services. Job placement – conduct comprehensive assessments of integrated work environments for people with disabilities & assist in job development, job analysis, community resource assessment, participant assessment and matching participant desires and needs using a compatibility analysis. Develop employment opportunities, coordinate placement, training and on-going supports necessary to maintain individuals with disabilities in competitive employment. In so doing, maintain an average of 85% client-specific work/week. DES Director has discretion on this. Job site and related training – provide instruction on work and related skills using a variety of systematic instructional techniques and support strategies & collect and interpret instructional data and implement systematic fading techniques. Community advocacy – communicate with all significant people in the lives of employees with disabilities to ensure successful employment & coordinate supports outside the work environment with available community resources. On-going assessments – conduct evaluations, collect performance data, elicit employer evaluations of employees with disabilities assigned. Communicate with both employer and employee to assure employment success and satisfaction up to point of transference to job coach. Project a favorable image of KCARC and DES in all professional interactions. Promote the health and safety of all staff and clients through adherence to all Agency procedures. Attend professional training sessions, seminars, in-services and staff meetings as recommended by DES administration. Responsible to coordinate all case management, case reviews and evaluations. Maintain accurate and updated program and work records up to the transference to job coach. Ensure the implementation of all work/future planning for caseload assigned. Assist in maintaining all records in compliance with ISO and department procedure. Serve as liaison between V.R. & DES in any problem areas regarding community employment services. Determine needs for retraining and provide services as needed, minimally twice monthly unless or until transference to job coach. All other duties as deemed necessary. Additional hours if needed are mandatory. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

  • Maintain reliable transportation available for use during working hours, valid driver’s license and provide proof of automobile liability coverage.
  • Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department.
  • Maintain good hygiene.
  • Possess excellent research and writing skills.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Possess the ability to use tact and empathy when dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
  • Possess the ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office products (Computer literate).
  • Accept responsibility and demonstrate leadership.
  • Be able to multitask effectively in a sometimes fast paced environment.
  • Driving record must meet insurability requirements and must furnish own transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • B.A. or commensurate experience preferred in rehabilitation, special education, other behavioral science or closely related discipline.
  • Experience in formal training in several of the following areas is preferred: job development, task analysis, data-keeping, job analysis and work site training.
