About The Position

The purpose of this position is to assist persons with disabilities/disadvantages to obtain and retain community-based competitive employment through the provision of on-the-job training and ongoing support services. The Employment Specialist will contact employers to perform job development and job analysis, develop and maintain productive relationships with community employers, assist in matching participants with jobs, conduct one-to-one training on the job, and maintain waiver compliance for all persons served by waiver funding programs through ODP. Additionally, the specialist will provide support services to meet individual participant needs, assist participants in adjusting to the social environment on the job, act as an advocate for program participants in the workplace as well as in the community, and record data as requested regarding training time and approach as well as characteristics and progress of participants. The role also involves maintaining a working relationship with OVR, support coordination agencies, and county IDD offices, completing ACRE training within the state-mandated deadline, and performing related duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Degree in Human Service field preferred.
  • Experience working directly with individuals with disabilities/disadvantages accepted.
  • Good work habits, such as acceptable attitude, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to supervision.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Drivers License and 3-year clean MVR.
  • Clean Criminal History, Child Abuse, and Fingerprinting Clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain working relationships with OVR, support coordination agencies, and county IDD offices.
  • Complete ACRE training within the state-mandated deadline.
  • Prepare Weekly Plan and submit to supervisor by 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
  • Participate in a minimum of 24 hours of applicable annual training.
