About The Position

This is a professional position which promotes employment and training programs. Staff is focused on placement services using Employ Florida (EF), job boards, local newspapers, and community resources. This position is responsible for prioritizing work demands with a focus on customer satisfaction. Ensures quality job referrals based on employer defined skills set and requirements. Employers are provided job order services, job creation, updates, placement verification, follow-up and hiring events. The position ensures that all services provided are adequately documented in EF and makes certain career seekers understand all services provided by CareerSource Southwest Florida.

Requirements

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
  • Knowledge of the principles of techniques of effective customer service and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.
  • Ability to record, collect, evaluate, and analyze data.

  • As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
  • Successful completion of the Florida Certified Workforce Professional Tier 1 training within one (1) year of employment in this position.
  • Required to travel and must provide own transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Human Services, Education, or a related field and 2 years of experience in sales and/or marketing.
  • Professional or nonprofessional experience in area related to employment security, interviewing, counseling, job placement, aptitude testing and assessments, job development, or job analysis may substitute on a year-to-year basis for the preferred college education.
  • Registered in EmployFlorida.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist career seekers and employers by assessing primary needs and directing customers to appropriate services.
  • Coordinate the provision of labor exchange services to employers and eligible persons which include intake and assessment, counseling, testing, job search assistance, referral and placement.
  • Assist applicants in obtaining appropriate employment by evaluating skills, work experience, abilities, and education; referring applicants to appropriate available job openings.
  • Contact employers to develop jobs aligned with applicants’ vocational or career objectives; and providing in-depth counseling to individuals having difficulty choosing an occupational field.
  • Assess customers’ needs to determine the eligibility of applicants and provide referrals to services such as, Migrant Seasonal Farm Workers Services (MSFW), Veteran Employment Services, Trade Adjustment Act (TAA) offered regionally, Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA), Welfare Transition (WT), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Federal Bonding, In-House Hiring Events, etc.
  • Provide services for Reemployment Services and Eligibility (RESEA) offered regionally.
  • Ensure full compliance with state, federal, or local policy of entering staff assisted services codes and documentation recorded in EF.
  • Monitor performance and production reports to ensure that relevant performance standards are met. Develops and maintains contact with resources within community groups and local organizations engaged in providing counseling and/or rehabilitative services.
  • Provide specialized professional employment security services to individuals needing more complex assistance.
  • Identifies and recommend to the center supervisor actions and services rendered to maintain compliance with established regulations, directives, and procedures.
  • Instruct career seekers one-on-one or in a group setting by conducting employability skill workshops on presenting a positive image, provide information on how to effectively access job openings, completing applications, resume assistance, interviewing and networking techniques, etc.
  • Assist other Employment Security Representatives in more difficult cases where further background and graduate/advanced study may be of assistance.
  • Follow the Standard Operating Procedure for Customer Complaint Resolution.
  • Update and maintain the state complaint log.
