About The Position

The Employment Placement Specialist is responsible for providing employment assistance to federal residents placed at Volunteers of America Booth Hall Residential Reentry Center by Bureau of Prisons contract requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in social or human services, criminal justice, or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university
  • One year or more work experience in human services, corrections, or community-based services OR Five years of total work experience in the listed related field instead of the combination of education and work experience
  • Must be able to pass a background check with the Wyoming Department of Corrections and Bureau of Prisons

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in social services, human services, criminal justice, or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university.
  • Two or more years of work experience in human services, corrections, or community-based services

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate employment assistance for residents to help them find viable employment that will potentially offer long-term work upon release from the program
  • Conduct orientation for all new residents
  • Provide continuous progress reviews on resident's program and employment status
  • Provide residents with daily information on community job opportunities; aiding residents with job searches and applications
  • Assist residents with writing resumes and cover letters, portfolio development, proper work attire, and interview skills
  • Conduct weekly employment verifications by the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and Volunteers of America policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the resident is accountable at work through time audits and random on-site checks
  • Random on-site checks of offenders’ homes for rule compliance
  • Act as program liaison to current employers and potential employers
  • Effectively communicate to and work collaboratively with the United States Probation Office (USPO), BOP, and all other agencies involved with each assigned resident
  • Provide current, accurate, detailed information for every resident at Program Review Team Meetings or when case updates are requested
  • Document all interactions with residents or associated individuals in the database
  • Ensure all resident case files and related documentation are always current, complete, and accurate
  • Conduct internal audits of case files and report findings to the Federal Program Director
  • Participate in all Federal Program audits
  • Track all completed Federal UAs
  • Participate in the on-call rotation
  • Other duties as assigned
