About The Position

The Employment First Director is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive Employment First strategic plan that aligns with state and federal disability policies. This role involves collaboration with various state agencies, leading steering committee efforts, building partnerships with employers and service providers, and supervising the Employment First team. The director will also monitor and evaluate the outcomes of Employment First initiatives, advocate for inclusive employment policies, and provide technical assistance to local service providers and employers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field.
  • Six years of experience in the field of disability services or employment.
  • Strong understanding of disability policy and labor market trends.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in developing and managing public-private partnerships.
  • Understanding of Employment First principles and employment rehabilitation services.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting.
  • Certification in a disability-related field is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • J.D. or master's degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience.
  • Experience in advocacy for inclusive employment policies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Employment First strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with state agencies to ensure effective implementation of Employment First initiatives.
  • Co-facilitate Employment First Steering Committee and Advisory Council meetings.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with employers and disability service providers.
  • Supervise Employment First team members in their roles.
  • Track and measure the progress of Employment First initiatives.
  • Advocate for inclusive employment policies at the state level.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to local service providers and employers.
  • Raise awareness of inclusive employment initiatives among various stakeholders.
