About The Position

The Group Supported Employment (GSE) Coach provides on-site training, supportive supervision, and skill-building assistance to a small group of clients at a GSE site. This position is responsible for helping clients develop independence, build work-related skills, maintain routines, and foster positive relationships with both clients and site staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Prior experience working with individuals with varying abilities.
  • Ability to perform the supported job in the absence of a client, ensuring continuity of training.
  • Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and current insurance.
  • Reliable means of transportation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with clients, employers, and coworkers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supported employment or vocational skills training.
  • Knowledge of workplace accommodations and job modification strategies.
  • Experience maintaining documentation and reporting on client progress.

Responsibilities

  • Provides specific, on-site training to a small group of clients in accordance with their individual service plans.
  • Facilitates task modifications as needed to accommodate client abilities and group workflow requirements.
  • Supervises and supports clients during each shift, promoting independence, teamwork, and skill development within the group setting.
  • Initiates and fosters positive communication and relationships between clients and GSE site staff members.
  • Serves as a positive role model, demonstrating appropriate work behaviors and expectations to the group.
  • May assist clients with job tasks for short periods to ensure continuity of work and training opportunities.
  • Communicates regularly with GSE site staff and supervisors to maintain a positive working relationship and ensure client needs are being met.
  • Conducts on-site evaluations of client performance and provides feedback to their VARC supervisor.
  • Attends client service reviews, department, committee, and unit meetings as directed.
  • Ensures the GSE site operates smoothly during each shift, coordinating activities, schedules, and group routines.
  • Arranges or provides transportation for clients to and from the GSE site as needed.
  • Accepts other duties as assigned.
