The Employee Relations Business Partner is a key member of a centralized Employee Relations team that collaborates closely with Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs), other Centers of Excellence (COEs) within HR, Legal and Compliance, and additional strategic stakeholders. Operating with limited supervision, this role serves as a trusted advisor and business partner, offering expert guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters-including performance management, corrective actions, position eliminations, complex leave and accommodation cases, health and safety concerns, and policy interpretation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred
  • 5 years of HR experience; Employee Relations experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced knowledge of employment laws (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA) and applies this knowledge to evaluate ER cases and recommend balanced solutions
  • Independently manages ER cases including performance management, corrective actions, position eliminations, leave/accommodation cases, health & safety matters, and policy interpretation
  • Conducts thorough investigations into employee complaints, ensures compliance with policies and laws, and recommends remedial actions
  • Assists in improving ER processes and implementing solutions with consideration for downstream impacts
  • Communicates effectively to educate leaders, employees, HRBPs, and stakeholders on ER recommendations
  • Completes compliance-related tasks such as EEO filings, affirmative action plans, monitoring sanctions/exclusions, and employment notices/posters
  • Identifies training needs across Medica and may help implement related resources and materials
  • Partners with leaders and HRBPs on restructuring/reorganization initiatives, ensuring legal compliance and a focus on employee experience
  • Uses data to identify trends and inform policy/process decisions
  • Adapts consulting style to workplace dynamics and briefs stakeholders on high-impact cases
