We’re hiring an Employee Relations Manager to Live. Work. Explore. in Columbia Falls, Montana! Job Summary: In consultation with the Director of Human Resources, this position will assist in managing all employee relations aspects of the Glacier National Park Lodges Human Resources operation. This position will also support our seasonal hiring efforts. The Details: Position Type: Year-Round, Full-Time. Subject to a 4-week furlough period in the fall, depending on business need Start Date: March 2026 Pay: $2,448.00 Bi-Weekly Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays) Housing: Employee housing is not available About Columbia Falls: Just west of Glacier National Park lies a collection of communities who proudly welcome millions of visitors each year to the Glacier Gateway area. Columbia Falls - a lively Montana town with many locally owned shops, restaurants, breweries, and summer farmers markets - is the ideal home base for exploring Glacier National Park and the 2.4 million acres in Flathead National Forest.

Requirements

A strong understanding of employment law, workplace investigations, and HR best practices—you know how to navigate the rules while keeping people at the center.
You’re a great listener, a skilled communicator, and a natural at diffusing tension.

You thrive in dynamic environments and can manage your time, workload, and priorities independently—even when things get busy (and they will, especially in the summer).
You’re energized by recruiting and talent connections—previous recruiting experience is preferred, and you’re confident in your ability to prioritize a high volume of requisitions and candidate flow without losing momentum.
You’re excited by the idea of hitting the road! Frequent travel throughout Glacier National Park during the summer season—including occasional overnight stays—is something you’re fully on board with.
You’re a clear, thoughtful communicator in both writing and conversation—and you know how to adapt your tone and approach for different audiences.
You bring a high level of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment to everything you do, especially when handling confidential or sensitive matters.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field preferred, but not required.
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in Employee Relations or Human Resources.
Physical Requirements include: Be on the move: You’ll regularly travel between iconic park locations—by car and on foot—navigating lodge areas, employee housing, and the great outdoors.
Blend indoors and out: While you’ll spend time in a traditional office setting, you’ll also experience a variety of environments, from alpine lodges to scenic backdrops that most people only see on vacation. This requires extensive driving at times to travel throughout the park.
Stay engaged: This position involves both desk work and hands-on interactions. You'll need to sit or stand for periods of time, lift and carry materials (up to 25 lbs), and walk through different work areas and terrain.
Be tech-ready: You’ll use standard office technology—computers, phones, and video conferencing—to connect with employees across the park.
Communicate with impact: You’ll listen, observe, and speak with clarity in one-on-one conversations, interviews, and team meetings—both in person and virtually, with or without an accommodation.
Work with the seasons: Be ready for shifting mountain weather—sunshine, snow flurries, or rain are all part of the park’s rhythm, and part of what makes this role so unique.

Responsibilities

Build Meaningful Connections: You’ll be the go-to HR partner for Location Managers, Assistant Managers, department leaders, and employees across the park. Whether you're joining a team huddle, dropping by a lodge, or checking in after hours, you’ll build trust and connection by showing up with professionalism, authenticity, and approachability.
Be a Trusted Ear (and Voice of Reason): Employees will turn to you when they need guidance, support, or just someone to listen. You’ll handle sensitive issues with empathy, discretion, and tact—making sure people feel heard, supported, and connected to the resources they need.
Tackle the Tough Stuff (with Heart): From roommate conflicts to policy concerns, you'll navigate a wide variety of employee relations issues with fairness, judgment, and consistency. You’ll know when to step in, when to coach, and when to escalate to leadership—always keeping people and policy in balance.
Lead with Integrity in Investigations: When serious concerns arise—like harassment, discrimination, or misconduct—you’ll take the lead on investigations. You’ll conduct thorough, timely, and compassionate interviews, and work closely with the HR Director and Operations leaders to recommend action rooted in policy and sound judgment.
Keep Communication Flowing: Whether you're fielding questions from staff, chatting with the National Park Service, or updating leadership, you’ll keep the lines of communication open, clear, and respectful across all levels.
Protect What Matters: You’ll safeguard employee records, maintain strict confidentiality, and ensure HR paperwork gets where it needs to go. You’ll also stay up to date on employment laws and help others stay compliant, too.
Be the HR Role Model: Your daily presence helps set the tone. Whether you're walking the walk with our company values or helping a new employee feel welcomed on day one, you'll embody what it means to be a trusted leader and team player.
Team Up and Dive In: You’ll collaborate with the rest of the HR crew on everything from onboarding to retention strategies to seasonal wrap-ups. When there's a need, you jump in—no job is too small when you're building something great.
Spot Trends and Take Action: Keep an eye on what's happening in the field. You’ll track seasonal turnover and engagement patterns and bring smart, thoughtful ideas to leadership about how to make Glacier an even better place to work.
