About The Position

The Employee Health & Safety Advisor at Volvo Autonomous Solutions is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and operational safety within the organization. This role involves developing and executing health and safety plans, conducting training, monitoring compliance, and managing safety-related documentation. The advisor will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety and compliance while contributing to the company's mission of shaping sustainable transport solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or related field
  • 2-5 years experience in CMV safety and compliance environment
  • 2-5 years experience administering OSHA policies and reporting
  • Experience with processing permits and plates a plus
  • Proven knowledge of MS Office suite, TMS systems; experience with Geotab a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
  • Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
  • Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker's compensation claims
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
  • Manage Driver's electronic record of duty status for daily compliance, generate reports weekly with notifications issued to non-compliant drivers/contractors based on established HOS policies
  • Monitor Unassigned drive time, yard moves, critical events, coach/mentor, engage Ops when corrective action is needed
  • Coach/mentor Ops and Drivers regarding safety and compliance procedures and practices
  • Administer training portal, adding new users, activating/deactivating users, updating status of users, etc.
  • Monitor FMCSA portal for Driver roadside inspections, collect and process inspection reports, issue warnings, record training, return to State of issuance within the required time limit
  • Review and approve all Driver Criminal activity reports, as required by customer's contracts and in accordance with Federal and State laws
  • Maintain OSHA (EHS) reporting as required by regulatory entities and company policy
  • Compile, record, secure, and maintain required data from various documents to ensure DOT compliance for all areas, including DQ files, driver logs, vehicle operations, vehicle maintenance, etc.
