About The Position

The Employee Health RN at The University of Kansas Health System is responsible for overseeing the employee health program, ensuring compliance with health regulations and workplace safety standards. This role involves managing pre-hire processes, drug screening, immunization compliance, and workplace exposure assessments, all aimed at fostering a safe and healthy work environment for the workforce.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing with a current active multistate RN license in good standing.
  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) certification or obtained within 14 days.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 or more years of nursing experience in an acute care setting, employee health, occupational health, or workplace safety.
  • Experience in healthcare settings or with health programs in large organizations.
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) certification.
  • 30-hour General Industry certification or similar training.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the documentation and compliance of pre-boarding processes, including drug screen results.
  • Communicate with Talent Acquisition and Occupational Health regarding pre-employment health screening requirements.
  • Monitor and collaborate with Infection Prevention and Control, Environmental Health & Safety, and Occupational Health to mitigate workplace exposure risks.
  • Participate in workplace safety audits and incident investigations, documenting exposure-related health concerns.
  • Ensure proper reporting and documentation of workplace injuries, illnesses, or exposures, and assist in developing corrective actions.
  • Manage immunization compliance, including tracking, administration, and organization of on-site vaccination clinics.
  • Perform medical surveillance and ensure documentation of training and fit testing for employees.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety education programs to improve employee wellness and prevent workplace injuries.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all employees in compliance with health privacy laws.
  • Work closely with HR to integrate health screening and wellness programs into the employee lifecycle.
  • Partner with Environmental Health & Safety to review programs and address safety concerns.
  • Stay updated with health regulations and workplace safety standards.
  • Support the development of emergency preparedness plans related to health risks.
