About The Position

The Employee Health Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to employees, volunteers, students, chaplains, and contract employees in a professional and courteous manner. The role includes providing services such as minor first aid, administering injections, conducting tuberculin skin tests, and coordinating with other medical providers. All responsibilities are carried out under the directive and guidance of the Employee Health Medical Director, in accordance with the mission, vision, strategic imperatives, and standards of the LCHD, as well as the American Nurses Association Standards and the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
  • Current RN license to practice in the state of South Carolina.
  • Maintain CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-placement screenings including health history interviews, tuberculin tests, vision and hearing screenings, and vital signs.
  • Administer immunizations as needed and communicate with employment regarding health assessments.
  • Manage exposure by conducting yearly tuberculin skin testing and providing counseling for positive results.
  • Provide basic first aid and injury treatment to employees and assist with documentation and reporting.
  • Manage illnesses by providing stock OTC medications, specimen collection, and clearance for employees returning to work.
  • Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms and perform general administrative duties including data entry and filing.
  • Participate in HR and Employee Health staff meetings and conduct N-95 respirator fit testing for new employees.
