About the position

El Mirador Surgery Center located in Palm Springs, CA has been a top choice for local physicians that serves all people through exemplary health care and community service. We are seeking an Employee Health / Infection Control RN that is trained in hospital or ASC Infection Prevention and Hospital Education who will be a team player in our Quality Services department. We need someone who has a lot of energy, enjoys customer service and performs well with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • The surveillance, analysis, and reporting of healthcare associated infections
  • Educating employees about infection prevention and control
  • The development of health system policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection prevention and control standards that meet Joint Commission, OSHA, Public/State Health Department, and Centers for Disease Control requirements
  • Promoting health and safety to all employees by facilitating an Employee Health & Wellness Program which includes disease detection, prevention, and treatment
  • Following up on employee illnesses and injuries
  • Conducting employee health screenings

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of CA
  • Certification of CIC-APIC preferred or obtained within one year of hire
  • A minimum of five years of progressive clinical experience in a surgical facility preferred
  • Additional coursework or certification in infection control is preferred
  • A minimum of one-year experience with internal and external data management systems
  • Detailed knowledge of hospital organizations, committees, department functions, and performance improvement activities
  • Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to technical staff in area of specialty
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements by Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, CDC and TDSHS standards
  • Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula
  • Ability to develop and maintain an Infection Prevention & Control Plan that includes timely and accurate surveillance activities, investigation, reporting, action plans and education
  • Knowledge of Employee Health injury/exposure reporting procedures
  • Knowledge in areas of patient care practices, epidemiology, asepsis, disinfection/sterilization, infectious diseases, communication, program administration and the development of education programs
  • Working knowledge of the use of established care models
  • Advanced nursing skills in area of Surgery area preferred
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment
  • Effective communication, organizational and leadership skills, independent decision-making, and ability to handle multiple projects
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to use Excel to develop and maintain spreadsheets, dashboards, databases and graphs

Benefits

  • Hourly Wage Range: $55 to $58 an hour
