The Employee Benefits Coordinator works closely with group benefits insurance accounts with our appointed carriers, responds to inquiries regarding new accounts, negotiates premiums and terms with insurance carrier underwriters, prepares proposals, and binds coverage by performing the following duties. Requirements

  • Advanced degree from college or technical school; or 2-5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active Life and Health license or willingness to obtain within 60 days, with support.
  • Tech savvy; ability to navigate multiple systems including Agency Management Software and Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Intermediate knowledge of benefits insurance markets.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a resource for Producers and Account Executives and assists in executing insurance strategies and objectives.
  • Maintains insurance database including customer/prospect files.
  • Makes recommendations that influence departmental decisions.
  • Manages a high level of insurance related information in a variety of formats and identifies appropriate carriers for unsealed risks in a timely manner.
  • Follows up with insurance carrier underwriters to answer questions and solicit quotes for new business.
  • Negotiates premiums, coverages, terms and conditions for prospective clients.
  • Develops proposals.
  • May meet with insurance carrier underwriters and marketing personnel to develop business relationships.
  • Sends new business submissions, applications, loss history, etc. to appropriate insurance companies.
  • Regularly works with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Assists in the analysis of lines of coverage and insurance company trends.
  • Plans and conducts market research to identify opportunities for increased sales.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
