About The Position

Maintains the integrity of the Enterprise Master Patient Index. Analyzes work queues to identify medical records to be merged or corrected. Analyzes, assesses, and performs chart corrections and EMPI maintenance, ensuring one record per patient is preserved and that the integrity of each record is maintained. Works with close supervision and within established policies/practices and guidelines. Principal Accountabilities: 1. Maintains the integrity of the Enterprise-wide Master Patient Index to ensure patient health information resides under a unique medical record number. 2. Demonstrates advanced critical thinking, reasoning, problem solving, and decision-making abilities and the ability to manage and organize conflicting, time-sensitive priorities. 3. Maintains all assigned HIM Data Integrity Services work queues and reports. 4. Communicates and collaborates with internal and external customers such as clinical and registration staff to resolve complex chart issues. 5. Assists in identification and communication of areas of non-compliance with established policies and procedures to decrease the creation of duplicate medical records, registration errors, and other medical record errors. 6. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education : Bachelor or Associate degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, or related field or Bachelor or Associate degree with two years of related experience. Experience : Skills, knowledge, and abilities gained through 0-2 years of related experience required. Epic experience preferred RHIT/RHIA credential preferred Experience working in an acute care hospital or relevant area preferred Other Desired Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge : Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication Exceptional time management and the ability to manage conflicting priorities Demonstrates initiative Familiar with medical terminology

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, or related field or Bachelor or Associate degree with two years of related experience.
  • Skills, knowledge, and abilities gained through 0-2 years of related experience required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication
  • Exceptional time management and the ability to manage conflicting priorities
  • Demonstrates initiative
  • Familiar with medical terminology
