General Atomics is seeking an EMI EMC Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering Department in Poway, California. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in the field of unmanned air vehicle systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, ensuring that all electrical and electronic equipment meets stringent standards. This role requires collaboration with various engineering departments to develop and procure necessary test support equipment, as well as performing both bench and anechoic chamber testing. The engineer will also be expected to travel to flight test facilities as needed to support aircraft testing, generating documentation to support test qualifications in accordance with EMI/EMC standards such as MIL-STD-461 and RTCA DO-160. In addition to testing, the EMI EMC Engineer will analyze and troubleshoot EMC/EMI failures, providing support to the design team and implementing best practices. The position requires a strong understanding of engineering concepts and principles, as well as hands-on experience with lab test equipment including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and signal generators. Familiarity with commercial and military EMI/EMC test procedures is essential, along with knowledge of Airworthiness concepts and processes. The ideal candidate will possess good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. This role may require extended hours and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is necessary.
