About The Position

The EMG Technician position at USA Health involves performing nerve conduction studies (NCS) and assisting physicians with electromyography (EMG) procedures. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of directly related experience; a Bachelor's degree may substitute for up to three years of related experience.
  • Strong background in neurophysiology and excellent technical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in test recordings and data entry.
  • Effective communication skills to explain procedures to patients and collaborate with the healthcare team.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nerve conduction studies (NCS) on patients using specialized equipment and techniques.
  • Assist physicians during EMG procedures, providing technical support and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Set up and calibrate equipment, ensuring its proper functioning and accuracy.
  • Prepare patients for NCS and explain the procedure to alleviate any concerns or anxiety.
  • Apply electrodes and other necessary equipment to the patient's body according to established protocols.
  • Conduct nerve conduction tests, accurately recording and interpreting the results.
  • Recognize and troubleshoot technical issues during tests, taking appropriate action to ensure accurate results.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to review and discuss test findings, assisting in the formulation of diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and organized patient records, including test data, reports, and other relevant information.
  • Follow established safety and infection control procedures to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in nerve conduction studies and related techniques through continuous professional development.
  • Provide comprehensive training to the new tech, including protocols, equipment usage, and patient care procedures.
  • Collaborate with the existing staff, monitoring the part-time tech's performance, patient throughput, and impact on productivity.
