Job Summary and Responsibilities This position is responsible for providing Neurological Diagnostics procedures in all patient care areas including NCS/EMG. Assess diagnostics needs of patients and works under medical supervision operating sophisticated medical equipment. Recognizes clinically significant events and follows facility policy and procedures regarding critical test results Communicates appropriately and effectively with the patient to convey the purpose of the NCS and answers questions regarding the test as well as with higher level personnel Performs standard and complex electroencephalographic recordings Keeps equipment in a clean operating condition. Troubleshoots and repairs minor malfunctions in the equipment. Initiates repair of malfunctioning equipment Transports patients, maintaining safety and comfort Practices strict ethical enforcement of protected medical and employee confidentiality Authorized to make entries in the medical record, consistent with and limited to the scope of the job duties and any applicable licensure

Requirements

  • BLS through American Heart Association certification is required upon hire
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in EMG/NCS diagnostic testing
  • Excellent and frequent reading, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to delegate

  • Ability to interact in individual or group settings
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Sound critical thinking and stress management skills
  • Incumbents must possess knowledge of how to provide care to a diverse population of patients and the ability to communicate and work with people from a variety of age-groups, social strata and ethnic backgrounds
