QuidelOrtho is looking for an Intern - Emerging Technology that wants to spend their 2025 summer working towards our mission: Changing Lives, One Test at a Time. Interns will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop their skills all while contributing to key company projects and initiatives. The Intern - Emerging Technology will support research, analysis, and the exploration of new and evolving technologies to drive efficiencies across business and IT. The role will assist in identifying trends, evaluating potential applications, and contributing to projects that explore the impact of emerging technologies. Working with cross-functional teams, the intern will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, helping to develop insights and solutions that align with business goals. This position provides an opportunity to enhance problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills while gaining exposure to the latest advancements in technology. This Internship will work over the summer with a possibility of extending up to 6-months. Targeting current grad-students local to San Diego, CA. Target start date June 16th, 2025. Office Location: San Diego, CA- Students must be in the area for duration of the program. QuidelOrtho is unable to provide housing accommodations.

  • Research emerging technologies, analyze industry trends, and assess business impact (AI, IoT, cloud, automation).
  • Support proof-of-concept development, testing, and documentation for new technology applications.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on technology adoption, innovation initiatives, and emerging trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Enterprise Architecture to explore solutions, identify automation opportunities, and align with architectural strategy.
  • Engage with vendors to evaluate how their products meet business and technical requirements.
  • Maintain research documentation, contribute to knowledge sharing, and support discussions on advancements and improvements.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Currently enrolled in a Master's program; graduating Dec 2025 or May 2026.
  • Completed bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Able to start on either June 2nd or June 16th.
  • Ability to complete a 6-month internship.
  • Understanding of AI, IoT, cloud computing, automation, or emerging technologies through coursework or projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for technological advancements and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to conduct research, analyze trends, and summarize findings effectively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate in a dynamic environment.
  • Must have work authorization in the United States at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python, Java, or similar) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience with data analysis, automation, or software development through coursework, projects, or internships.
  • Exposure to proof-of-concept development, process improvement, or technology-driven initiatives.
  • Previous participation in research projects, innovation programs, or extracurricular tech-related activities.
  • Experience creating technical reports, presentations, or documentation related to emerging technologies.
  • Students local to San Diego.
