The Operations Development Program Representative is part of the Emerging Talent Programs at Heritage Environmental Services, designed to train and develop high potential candidates and provide opportunities to accelerate career growth and gain direct, hands-on experience. This two-year program explores one of our 25+ locations identified by the business to support operations-based roles in management, engineering, supervision, laboratory, and customer-facing project opportunities. Geographic mobility anywhere in the United States is required, and facility selection may vary based on business needs. Relocation assistance is available for this role.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times.
  • Develops an understanding of how the company works and builds relationships with Emerging Talent Program representatives through regularly scheduled meetings, annual training workshops, and mentor programs.
  • Networks with professionals from various disciplines across the organization to enhance teamwork, collaboration, communication, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Maintains awareness of all Company policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Assists with analysis and support of a business unit's performance, which may include tracking key performance indicators for safety, environmental compliance, quality and production.
  • Partners with employees of all levels within the organization to develop new standard operating procedures.
  • Maintains responsibility for the maintenance and development of HSE programs within a business unit and works with employees to identify opportunities for improvement in safety and environmental compliance.
  • Supports facility capital and maintenance projects, including project scope development and design, permitting, writing of capital requests for review and approval, equipment procurement, supervision of contractor or maintenance installations, start-up and budget reporting.
  • Visits customer industrial sites to identify, quantify, properly pack and prepare paperwork for shipping and transport of industrial waste back to service location.
  • Performs lab testing of industrial wastes received at a treatment facility to ensure the wastes are properly categorized and are consistent with set specifications regarding permits and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act regulations.
  • Performs work directly at the customer site to maintain contracts, which may include operating an onsite waste treatment or recycling operation.
  • Supervises employees who work within waste and recycling facilities and those who provide our customers with services such as onsite operations, environmental assistance, and industrial cleaning operations.
  • Maintains the ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical, environmental, mechanical, industrial), science (chemistry, geology, biology, environmental), safety or business management (required).
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (required).
  • High-performing recent graduate or expectation to graduate by start date -OR- qualifying education must have been obtained within the past 2 years of the start date.
  • Prior relevant internship, co-op, or practical experience (required).
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative - such as school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc. or exceptional leadership on work projects (required).
