About The Position

VCA Animal Emergency Hospital Southeast Calder Road is looking for a Night Shift Emergency Veterinary Technician (Full-time and Part Time) to join their one-of-a-kind Emergency and Critical Care Hospital! Our hospital has been serving the Bay Area near Houston for over 20 years. We are a nights, weekends and holidays facility, AHAA accredited and believe in providing the best possible care to our patients and excellent service to our clients. Requirements

  • Veterinary Technician Experience required.
  • Emergency experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift over 30 pounds without assistance.
  • Must be able to place IV Catheters, surgery monitoring, triage emergency cases, manage hospitalized cases, communicate efficiently with doctors and staff, calculate drug dosing, administer medications via injection, oral, and topical routes.
  • Standard hospital cleaning duties.
  • Follow hospital checklists and protocols.
  • Maintain highest standard of patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Venipuncture, IV Catheter placement and anesthesia experience a must!
  • Maintaining medical records.
  • Preparing surgical suite and surgical patients.
  • Filling prescriptions.
  • Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
  • Providing compassionate care and a home away from home for boarded and hospitalized pets.
