About The Position

Emergency Vehicle Technician Location: Fort Riley, KS, US Regular Full-Time Essential Responsibilities: The Emergency Vehicle Technician diagnoses malfunctions and repairs emergency vehicles; advises and trains lower grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems; inspects and approves completed maintenance actions; and solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications. The Emergency Vehicle Technician uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends; analyze equipment requirements; maintain equipment records and document maintenance actions. The Emergency Vehicle Technician also analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs emergency vehicles and associated equipment using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools. Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Must have formal documented training and a minimum of five years of documented emergency vehicle repair experience. Must provide documentation as to the current level of EVT certification. Must be able to complete and maintain at least level III EVT certification. Must have a valid state driver's license. Class A CDL is preferred but not required. Must be able to obtain/maintain licenses on military vehicles, both tactical and non-tactical. Must be able to obtain and maintain a common access card (access to installation). Demonstrated understanding of Safety and OSHA Laws & Regulations. Must be able to lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 70 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds. Must be able to climb in and out of emergency vehicles and related equipment. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in cramped areas for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions including intense heat, heavy wind, heavy rain, and snow or sleet. Strong customer service skills. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty. May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
