About The Position

The Emergency Unit Clerk - Per Diem position at Carson Valley Health is responsible for performing clerical duties and acting as a unit receptionist within the Emergency Department. This role involves coordinating patient activities with other departments, maintaining an efficient nursing station, and ensuring accurate documentation and communication. The position is offered on an as-needed basis, with no guaranteed hours, and includes a 15% increase in hourly rate due to per diem status.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous ED unit clerk experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate courteously and professionally with employees, physicians, patients, and administrative staff.
• Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills with proven problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in providing confidential administrative support.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical duties and act as a unit receptionist in the Emergency Department.
• Coordinate unit and patient activities with other departments using computer and telephone systems.
• Maintain an orderly and efficient nursing station related to the Patient Admitting Department and/or ER Department.
• Greet patients and visitors according to customer service standards.
• Collect demographic and billing information in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Maintain accurate computer records and documentation for patient admissions and discharges.
• Facilitate the completeness of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) from preadmission through discharge.
• Communicate daily with personnel from all departments for scheduling diagnostic tests and treatments.
• Answer and direct phone calls professionally, taking messages and following up as needed.
