This position performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the emergent and urgent needs and comfort of patients while assisting the RN with functions in the Emergency Department Lobby and Triage area. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients of all ages within the scope of their training and expertise. The care given by the EMT should be in accordance with the plan of care established by the licensed nurse. The EMT communicates between unit/department and other departments of the organization, ensuring that all necessary information is relayed effectively to maintain optimal patient care. In addition to direct patient care, the EMT is responsible for carrying out any other duties deemed necessary to ensure optimal patient care under the direction and supervision of the physician and/or professional nurse. This includes performing clerical duties using computer desktop applications, relaying messages to the appropriate personnel, and assisting in maintaining patient flow within the department. The EMT also participates in the orientation and training of new personnel, ensuring that they are well-equipped to provide high-quality care. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the overall functioning of the Emergency Department.
