About The Position

Assists licensed staff in the provision of basic nursing care utilizing established policies and procedures; Provide age-appropriate care from the infant through the geriatric population; Functions as part of the multidisciplinary team; Demonstrates nursing process skills in collecting patient data, reporting the findings and assisting the team to meet patient care goals.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certificate or a Certified Nurse Assistant License required (or obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate Required
  • Professional customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English, bilingual abilities preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous ED tech experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides personal/ physical nursing care to patients.
  • Obtains basic age-appropriate measures.
  • Aids with daily living activities, specimen collection, nutrition, elimination and pulmonary support.
  • Provides basic physical care and comfort measures.
  • Aids with non-sterile soaks; application of simple dressings; perineal care.
  • Assists with positioning and transporting patients for various procedures.
  • As directed, assists the care team by collecting patient care data at designated and appropriate intervals on all patients. Reports findings to licensed staff.
  • Recognizes and accurately reports relevant patient information to licensed staff.
  • Communicates appropriate information regarding patient safety and infection control to RN or nurse manager.
  • Ensures that all aspects of patient care are documented, and that documentation is complete, accurate and timely.
  • Performs all responsibilities/duties required by unit as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. This includes but is not limited to the age of the client served.
  • Orders, obtains, maintains, and stocks medical supplies as needed from various areas of the hospital as assigned.
  • As directed by the licensed nursing staff, provides care in a manner that is safe and sensitive to the rights of each patient.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in use of special equipment operates and ensures proper functioning of equipment; ensures uses of supplies are accurately documented; maintains accurate and complete documentation of supply charges.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in specific areas of clinical experience, as applicable.
