About The Position

Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, nursing supervisor, and/or charge nurse, the Emergency Services Technician is responsible and accountable for delivering direct patient care to all populations according to the policies and procedures of the hospital, Emergency Department and Clinical Decision Unit. Care provided is under the direct supervision of an RN. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, and good public/customer relations.

Requirements

• One year of experience in an acute hospital or long-term care setting preferred.
• Direct patient care experience in the last 6 months including taking vital signs.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Current CNA or EMT Certification and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients.
• Must pass telemetry test within six months of hire.
• Required: American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
• Assault crisis training must be completed within the first 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Current emergency medical technician (EMT) certification.
• Paramedic certification.
• Certified nursing assistant (CNA) certification.
• Medical assistant (MA) certification.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
