Summary: The Emergency Services Technician (EST) plays a crucial role in providing essential support to the healthcare team within the Emergency Department (ED). Positions may be full-time, part-time, or seasonal/temporary (5/25–10/31). In all staffing types, the EST assists healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care, maintaining a safe and organized environment, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the department. Seasonal/temporary ESTs provide valuable support during periods of increased departmental demand and are fully integrated into the ED team with the same commitment to excellence in patient care. The EST demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • Level I High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and licensure or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program preferred. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Level II High school diploma or equivalent. Current listing on Maine CNA Registry Advanced CNA training BLS Certification
  • Level IIB High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a medical assistant program, with national CCMA, RMA or CMA certification. BLS certification.
  • Level III High school diploma or equivalent. Currently Licensed as a Maine Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced (EMT-A) or Paramedic. BLS, ACLS, PALS Certifications
  • 1-3 years of emergency room experience preferred not required.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing situations, and work as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move patients, as well as stand for extended periods.
  • Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Potential for exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Potential for periods of high stress.

Nice To Haves
