About The Position

As an Emergency Services Tech Transport, you will be responsible for the transportation of stable patient transfers following initial hospital assessments. In the Emergency Department, you will work under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Emergency Department Provider to provide patient care and assist in performing assigned procedures within your scope of training. Your role will involve transporting stable patients to Cheyenne Regional facilities and within the facilities, ensuring safe driving and maintaining proper fuel levels. You will also keep vehicles clean and stocked at all times, and work within specific certificate/license scope of practice outside of the facility.

Requirements

  • Current Wyoming Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Medical Services.
  • Current Wyoming Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Medical Services.
  • Current Wyoming Intermediate Emergency Medical Technician (IEMT) Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Medical Services.
  • Current Wyoming Paramedic Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Medical Services.
  • Valid USA driver's license with a clean driving record that follows Cheyenne Regional Medical Center's driving guidelines.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older (for insurance purposes).
  • 14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date.
  • National EMT certificate or National Paramedic license.
  • Prior experience in patient care setting.
  • Successful completion of EOS driving test.

Responsibilities

  • Transport stable patients to Cheyenne Regional facilities and within the facilities.
  • Ensure safe driving and maintain proper fuel levels.
  • Keep vehicles clean and stocked at all times.
  • Perform assigned procedures including electrocardiogram testing (EKG), wound cleansing and bandaging, vital sign measurements, specimen collection, intraosseus placement, bladder (Foley) catherization, and ultrasound intravenous placement.
  • Provide point of care testing including blood glucose, troponin, chem 8, and lactic acid.
  • Assist providers and nurses with patient exams and sterile procedures.
  • Perform fiberglass splints and provide training for orthopedic devices including crutch training, splint and sling care.
  • Remove sutures and staples from wounds as directed.
  • Room patients and assist in monitoring condition; provide patient updates as warranted to appropriate healthcare provider.
  • Respond to traumas and codes to provide intubation assistance and compressions.
  • Clean and stock supplies in patient rooms and department.
  • Document patient care and condition as appropriate.
  • Provide oxygen delivery including nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal adjuncts.
