About The Position

Basic Purpose of the Job Responsible for responding to requests by the nursing staff or physician staff to assist with ALS interventions and to assist with emergency care within the emergency department according to protocols and polices approved by the hospital and emergency department medical director, and hospital policy. Performs other duties related to the provision of care as assigned after appropriate training.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years’ full‑time experience preferred as a provider of pre-hospital care in an emergency setting (paramedic level preferred).
• Full‑time experience must be within one year of date of application.
• Knowledge of the general principles, methods, materials and practices employed in the emergency room.
• Knowledge in the use, operation and maintenance of the equipment used in the emergency room and the use of sterile techniques and first-aid procedures.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification recognized through American Heart Association (AHA)
• Ability to learn and understand medical terms and procedures relating to the work.
• Ability to work effectively with the public and employees.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing.
• Ability to keep clinical records and charts.
• Ability to exercise emotional control in working with patients.
• Skill in the use and care of equipment and instruments used within the emergency room.
