About The Position

Fairview is looking for an Emergency Room Technician (ERT) to join our ED team at our Masonic Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Join the Emergency Department at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital, a fast‑paced, 24/7 pediatric ED dedicated to providing exceptional emergency care for infants, children, and adolescents.
As Emergency Department Technician you will participate in providing a health care experience that empowers our customers and their families to live life better. The Emergency Department Technician (EDT) is responsible for assisting the professional nurse in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and re-ordering and stocking supplies. The EDT may or may not be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the professional nurse.
Schedule: This position will work a 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks) The shift length will be 12 hour night shifts (7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.) with an every third weekend rotation.

Requirements

• BLS certification
• Current EMT or ERT certification
• Current Paramedic certification
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the MN Registry
• Enrolled in an LPN, RN, or NP program (with at least 1 completed clinical semester)
• Six months of recent hands-on patient care experience (acute, long-term, or home care)
• Completed Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program
• LPN licensure

Nice To Haves

• 1+ years of Emergency Department experience (EMT, ERT, paramedic, scribe, etc.)
• Current experience as a CNA or NST

Responsibilities

• Transports patients by wheelchair and cart
• Assists patients with ambulation and positioning
• Informs RN of patient/family observations and concerns
• Promptly responds to patient call lights/requests
• Demonstrates concern for patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality
• Performs tasks with adaptations or modifications consistent with patients ages and developmental abilities
• Obtains ordered specimens from patient
• Transports specimens and blood products
• Demonstrates adherence to proper procedures
• Assists in resuscitation
• Functions as nurse extender: assists nurses with patient care activities
• Documentation is clear, concise, accurate and timely
• Restocks room, supplies, and carts
• Assists with patient room clean-up between patients
• Completes room and cart checklist
• Completes quality control checklist
• Reports discrepancies and malfunctions to charge nurse or manager
