About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet the needs of individual patients throughout assigned areas. The role involves collecting, reporting, and documenting clinical data, taking vital signs, and assisting with patient activities as assigned by the charge nurse. The position also includes providing superficial wound care, maintaining patient safety, and ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Additionally, the role requires maintaining a clean and safe environment, assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and preparing patients for examinations or procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of Medical Corpsman program and one year of applicable experience, or completion of EMT-P, AEMT, Licensed Paramedic course/program and one year of applicable experience.
  • Completion of EMT-B and 1+ years of emergency room experience as an ER Technician or hospital equivalent experience.
  • Completion of the first year of education and current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing and one year of applicable experience.
  • 3+ years of emergency room experience as an ER Technician, or 3+ years as a CNA with relevant hospital experience.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required.
  • Current ACLS/ALS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required in most markets.
  • Current PALS certifications through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross strongly preferred.
  • Experience with IV start, phlebotomy, and initiation of EKG strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in English; written and oral communication.
  • Pennsylvania Candidates: Act 33 and Act 73 clearances completed within the last 5 years or must be obtained prior to start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Current PALS certifications through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross strongly preferred.
  • Experience with IV start, phlebotomy, and initiation of EKG strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, report, and document clinical data.
  • Take vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and collect specimens.
  • Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assist with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse/designee.
  • Provide for superficial wound care.
  • Provide for patient safety related to age and condition.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records.
  • Provide and maintain a clean, safe environment and perform proper aseptic technique.
  • Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge of the patient.
  • Prepare patients and chaperone during examinations/procedures.
  • Maintain patient care areas with appropriate supplies.
  • Assist with patient restraints and maintain precautions.
  • Collect, report and document data related to patient needs/emergencies.
  • Travel to all facility locations as required.
  • Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
