About The Position

The Emergency Room Technician (ER Tech) at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting the registered nursing staff by providing high-quality patient care in the Emergency Room. This position requires the technician to demonstrate expertise in paramedic skills as per Illinois State law, ensuring effective patient assistance and collaboration within the healthcare team.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Maintain AHA Basic Life Support Certification.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform a variety of patient assistance tasks without direct supervision.
• Ability to interact effectively with patients, clinical staff, and the general public.
• Ability to adjust work schedules and activities based on the needs of the department.
• Emergency Medical Technician (Basic EMT-B) certification; Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification; or currently enrolled in an RN program with clinical rotations.

Nice To Haves

• CPI certification required upon hire or within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist and augment the registered nursing staff in providing patient care in the Emergency Room.
• Identify issues, problems, and opportunities for improvement in patient care.
