About The Position
The Emergency Department (ED) Technician assists medical and nursing staff in providing technical support for patient care in the emergency room setting.
Requirements
- Current licensure by the Maryland State Board for Certified Nursing Assistant (current EMT license will be accepted in lieu of CNA license)
- High School Diploma
- BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association)
- Minimum one-year experience as certified nursing assistant (corpsman, or EMT/paramedic training may be alternatively considered), or equivalent education and training in basic disease processes, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
Responsibilities
- Collecting, communicating and documenting data and information
- Performing diagnostic testing, surveillance and monitoring
- Assisting with and performing treatments and procedures
- Maintaining medical equipment and supplies
- Assisting with transportation of patients, supplies, specimens and medications
- Responding to emergencies including initiation of emergency measures
- Performing associated and delegated duties in support of departmental and hospital operations
