About The Position

Lead day shift emergency operations at a 234-bed acute care hospital in Hermitage, Tennessee (Nashville area), featuring a Level III Trauma Center and 22-bed emergency department serving up to 166 patients daily. This Clinical Nurse Coordinator role provides charge nurse leadership with rotating weekends, overseeing emergency care delivery in a facility offering comprehensive services including cardiology, oncology, orthopedics/spine, rehabilitation, women's services, Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI, and Primary Stroke Center designation. The position reports to the ED Director with exceptional growth opportunities and fast-track leadership development within the regional healthcare network. Requirements

  • Current Tennessee RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years of Emergency Room nursing experience (required for day shift)
  • Prior charge nurse experience (required for day shift)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification - American Heart Association - current
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required within 1 year of employment
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 1 year of employment
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) required within 6 months of employment
  • Ability to work day shift (7AM-7PM) with rotating weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Trauma nursing experience in Level III or higher trauma centers
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
  • Previous charge nurse experience in high-volume emergency departments

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate all emergency department functions during day shift under supervision of unit director.
  • Assess, monitor, record, report, and follow through on symptoms or changes in patient conditions throughout the shift.
  • Collaborate with management team to conduct ongoing assessment of quality patient care services provided in the emergency department.
  • Create and maintain accurate, detailed reports and records ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and modify care plans based on patient responses.
  • Delegate nursing tasks appropriately and safely while retaining accountability for patient care delivery across 22-bed ED.
  • Provide individualized education for patients, families, and caregivers throughout the continuum of emergency care.
  • Adhere to standards of safety and infection control in delivery of patient care across high-volume emergency setting.
  • Manage patient flow and throughput during day operations with volumes up to 166 patients daily.
  • Serve as clinical resource and mentor for emergency nursing staff during day shift operations.
  • Respond to trauma activations and coordinate Level III Trauma Center care during daytime hours.
  • Support stroke and chest pain protocols ensuring timely interventions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with incoming and outgoing shifts using appropriate hand-off protocols.
