About The Position

Plans and directs emergency response services on a local, regional and national level. Develops programs and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and ensures a safe working environment. Coordinates resources and activities of personnel engaged in performing emergency response services for quality control of processes and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of progressively responsible experience in waste disposal, emergency response, or a related field.
  • To perform the duties of this job, the employee must have comprehensive knowledge of complex regulations specific to the emergency response industry; must be knowledgeable of emergency response principles and practices.
  • Essential competencies to perform this job include analytical, organizational and problem solving skills; must be detail oriented and possess technical aptitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure, exercise independent judgment and select effective course of action while controlling resources and expenditures.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates or manages activities of the emergency response division to optimize operational efficiency while protecting workers and the environment.
  • Directs and coordinates organizational activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations to maximize profits.
  • Ensures, directly or through subordinates, that the company is in compliance with all pertinent federal, state and local regulations.
  • Analyzes operational needs and develops operating and capital expenditure budgets and reports.
  • Provides regular reports as required by governmental agencies and senior management.
  • Trains response personnel.
  • Ensures paperwork is properly processed for billing.
  • Implements and maintains management systems.
  • Ensures assets are properly maintained.
  • Maintains inventory necessary to support emergency response.
  • Develops and maintains customer relationships to secure future business opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Respond to large oil spills on land and water.
  • Coordinate internal resources: vessels, barges, vacuum tankers, roll‑off boxes, field techs, disposal assets/landfills.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships (ICN network).
  • Activate and coordinate spill management team (logistics, finance, planning, operations).
  • Review invoices for accuracy before submitting to clients.
  • Client outreach: drills, tabletop exercises, conferences, ongoing engagement.
  • Cross‑sell services and partner with New York leadership and marketing on sales strategy.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies: USCG, EPA, BSEE, state environmental agencies.
