SCPH is seeking an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator to work full time (35 hours per week), Monday-Friday, in our Emergency Preparedness program. This role may serve as, or provide support to, the Regional Public Health Preparedness Coordinator and/or the Volunteer Coordinator for the North East Central Ohio (NECO) Region and/or Summit County Public Health, while also acting as a liaison with local, regional, and state stakeholders.The coordinator ensures compliance with grant deliverables, maintains and updates emergency operations and continuity plans, and integrates public health into regional training and exercise systems. Additional duties include planning and evaluating drills and exercises, managing equipment and logistics, and ensuring NIMS compliance during responses.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in emergency management, emergency preparedness, public administration, public health, industrial hygiene, environmental safety, general science or related field.
  • Be knowledgeable in applicable guidance documents, including but not limited to the Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Capabilities: National Standards for State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial Public Health; the National Response Framework, Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 101, and Continuity Guidance Circular.
  • Completion of the following Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) courses: IS-100.C Introduction to the Incident Command System, IS-200.C: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, IS-700.B: Introduction to the National Incident Management System, ICS-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents, ICS-400: Advanced Incident Command System, and IS-800.D: National Response Framework.
  • Current valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability and insurance coverage.

  • Experience (5 years) in the field of emergency management or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee assigned public health emergency preparedness projects.
  • Serve as or support the Regional Public Health Preparedness Coordinator and/or Volunteer Coordinator for the NECO Region or Summit County Public Health.
  • Act as a liaison with local, regional, and state stakeholders on preparedness efforts.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in public health preparedness.
  • Complete and document grant deliverables in line with requirements.
  • Maintain and support updates to Emergency Operations Plans (EOP), Continuity of Government (COG), Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP), and related plans.
  • Support the integration of public health into multiyear training and exercise plans, ensuring compliance with HSEEP standards.
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate trainings, drills, exercises, and After Action Reports/Improvement Plans.
  • Manage emergency preparedness equipment, supplies, and logistics, including field deployment and operation of vehicles/trailers.
  • Ensure responses are NIMS-compliant and effectively coordinate with partners to manage public health consequences during incidents.
