About The Position

The Emergency Planning Manager at Florida State University is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive emergency planning program, ensuring compliance with national certification and accreditation standards. This role involves strategic planning, community outreach, and project management, as well as providing oversight during emergency operations. The manager will develop and maintain essential emergency management plans and coordinate training and outreach programs for the university community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to administrative services, or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years of experience related to administrative services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage crises and handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in emergency, business continuity, or large event plan development for a government agency or higher education institution.

Responsibilities

  • Administer a comprehensive emergency planning program for Florida State University.
  • Achieve and maintain national certification and accreditation standards.
  • Provide preparedness and response oversight during Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations.
  • Support the director in developing and maintaining the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) and Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).
  • Coordinate with campus entities and community partners to develop emergency response plans and documentation.
  • Manage education and outreach programs for university constituencies, including students.
  • Maintain compliance documentation for Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) standards and Clery Act requirements.
  • Develop and manage exercises for the Emergency Management Team according to Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) standards.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and schedule training opportunities for the Emergency Management Team.
  • Coordinate after action meetings/reports and surveys following events.
