Emergency Medicine Assignment Length: Ongoing coverage need Start Date: As soon as credentialed Openings: 1 Reason for Coverage: Long-term permanent search Practice Setting: Must be willing to cover shifts at Altoona PA and Bedford PA campuses No vent management Altoona Average yearly volume: 51,000 Bedford Average 24-hour volume: 137 Average yearly volume: 45,000 Level III trauma center Schedule: Part-time coverage Must be willing to work nights 6:00a-4:00p 8:00a-6:00p 11:00a-9:00p 1:00p-11:00p 3:00p-1:00a 5:00p-3:00a 9:00p-7:00a Patient Population: All ages EMR: Cerner Credentialing: 90-120 days

Requirements

Active Pennsylvania licensure
Board certification
Stroke certified
Minimum 2-years Emergency Medicine experience or equivalent
In-depth knowledge of specialty principles and practices, including diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases
Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams
Technical proficiency in performing procedures (if applicable)
Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adapt to changing patent conditions
Time management and organizational skills to manage a patient workload effectively
Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
Board certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the AOA
Active and unrestricted medical license in Pennsylvania
While specific requirements may vary, most locum physician positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Nice To Haves

Fellowship training in Emergency Medicine (may be preferred depending on the position)

Responsibilities

Diagnose and treat a wide range of system disorders in adults and potentially children (depending on the position)
Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations
Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, CT scans and blood tests
Perform procedures to diagnose and treat digestive conditions (depending on the scope of practice)
Develop and implement treatment plans
Manage chronic digestive conditions and provide ongoing patient care
Collaborate with other specialists when needed to ensure coordinated care
Maintain accurate and complete medical records for all patients
Stay current on the latest advancements in specialty through continuing education
