About The Position

The Department of Emergency Medicine at West Virginia University (WVU), St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV is currently seeking academic Emergency Medicine (EM) physicians at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor. Qualified and interested candidates would be conserved for a Medical Director/Division Chief opportunity for St. Joseph’s Hospital. St. Joseph’s Hospital receives 24,000 Emergency Department (ED) visits per year where clinical opportunities and medical student and resident teaching are available. The Department of Emergency Medicine at WVU maintains a thriving clinical practice—including West Virginia University Hospitals/Ruby Memorial Hospital (55,000 visits/year, Level 1 Trauma Center), United Hospital Center (58,000 visits/year), St. Joseph's Hospital (24,000 visits/year), five WVU Urgent Care centers, WVU Student Health, WVU International Travel Clinic, Careers | University Health Associates and an internal locum tenens practice. Across this myriad of EM practices, our faculty, fellows, residents, and advanced practice providers care for more than 181,000 patients per year. Our department is home to a competitive residency program of 30 residents—attracting top-notch house staff from medical schools across the country. Requirements

  • Qualified applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or its foreign equivalent) and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license.
  • Candidates must have completed an accredited Emergency Medicine residency program and be board-certified or board-eligible in Emergency Medicine.
