JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Emergency Medicine Physician • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: New Ulm, MN • Service Setting: Inpatient • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: March 9, 2026 – Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: Mix of day and night shifts, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) COVERAGE DATES • Ongoing coverage beginning March 9, 2026 • 6–8 shifts per month required • Each shift is 12 hours PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics • Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 15–20 patients per shift, with seasonal peaks up to 25 • Admissions: Yes • Rounding: Included • Phone Consults: Yes • Case Mix: Full-scope emergency medicine, all acuity levels FACILITY INFORMATION • No. of Beds in Department: 11 • Trauma Level: Adult Level IV • EMR System: Epic • Office Equipment Available: Standard emergency department equipment • Specialty Backup Available: Respiratory Therapy, Psychiatry, Teleintensivist, Orthopedics, General Surgery, OB/GYN, CRNA • Support Staff Available: RT, Psych, Teleintensivist, occasional mid-level providers • Reason for Coverage: Ongoing staffing support PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Credentialing Timeline: 60–90 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Travel not covered; local candidates only REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Emergency department procedures appropriate for a single-coverage critical access setting JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active Minnesota medical license required • Board: Board Certified in Emergency Medicine • DEA: Active DEA required • Certifications: ACLS, PALS, ATLS or CALS required • Experience: Community emergency department experience required • Other Qualifications: Experience practicing in Minnesota or adjacent states preferred DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care for patients of all ages • Manage a single-coverage emergency department with variable seasonal volumes • Perform emergency procedures and stabilize critical patients • Collaborate with on-site and remote specialty support services • Accurately document all patient encounters in Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active Minnesota medical license required
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
- Active DEA required
- ACLS, PALS, ATLS or CALS required
- Community emergency department experience required
