About The Position

This opportunity is with a respected regional healthcare system serving Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. The organization provides comprehensive acute care services through a well-equipped Emergency Department supported by advanced diagnostics, specialty backup, and efficient inpatient services. The Emergency Department offers a fast-paced, team-driven environment with strong clinical support, modern facilities, and a commitment to high-quality, patient-centered emergency care. Physicians work alongside experienced advanced practice providers, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and effective treatment. The facility is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Emergency Medicine Physician to join its dynamic Emergency Department team in Dothan, Alabama. This role involves evaluating and treating a wide range of acute and critical conditions in an emergency setting. Physicians will work a shift-based schedule with support from APPs, nursing staff, and on-call specialists. The group is open to 2026 Emergency Medicine residents as well as experienced physicians.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an Emergency Medicine residency
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
  • Eligible for or holding an active Alabama medical license
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and ATLS required
  • Strong clinical and procedural skills in emergency care
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency medical care to patients of all ages presenting with acute illnesses or injuries
  • Perform rapid assessments, stabilization, and treatment of critical conditions
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including labs, imaging, and EKGs
  • Perform emergency procedures such as intubation, central lines, suturing, and trauma care
  • Collaborate with specialists for admissions, consultations, and transfers
  • Manage patient flow efficiently while maintaining high-quality care standards
  • Document all patient encounters accurately within the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental protocols
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams in high-pressure situations
