About The Position

Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO) (Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine Fellowship) Position Summary The Emergency Medicine Physician provides immediate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting with acute illness or injury in the emergency department. This role involves the management of undifferentiated, high-acuity patients across all age groups and requires rapid clinical decision-making, procedural expertise, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality care.

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
One of the following training pathways: Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency OR Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency with an Emergency Medicine fellowship
Board-eligible or board-certified in Emergency Medicine or Board-certified in Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine fellowship training
Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
DEA registration or eligibility
BLS and ACLS required; ATLS and PALS as required by department
Expertise in acute care medicine and emergency procedures
Strong clinical judgment and rapid decision-making abilities
Ability to manage high-acuity and high-stress clinical environments
Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
Commitment to patient safety, efficiency, and evidence-based care
Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously throughout clinical shifts
Manual dexterity for emergency and bedside procedures
Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and emergency response
Must maintain state certification and/or licensure.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of emergent medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions
Perform emergency procedures including airway management, resuscitation, procedural sedation, wound care, fracture stabilization, and point-of-care ultrasound, consistent with training and privileges
Rapidly assess patient acuity and prioritize care based on clinical urgency
Interpret diagnostic studies including laboratory tests, imaging, and electrocardiograms
Initiate stabilization, treatment, and disposition plans including admission, transfer, or discharge
Participate in trauma, stroke, sepsis, STEMI, and cardiac arrest response protocols as applicable
Collaborate with nursing staff, consultants, EMS, and ancillary services
Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation
Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and departmental initiatives
Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers, residents, and learners as applicable
Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
