JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Emergency Medicine Physician • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Brownsville, TX • Service Setting: Inpatient • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: July 15, 2026 – Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: 6:00a – 6:00p and 6:00p – 6:00a PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: All Ages • Patient Volume/Census: 32,000 annual volume; average 87 encounters per day • Admissions: Yes • Phone Consults: As clinically appropriate • Case Mix: General Emergency Medicine FACILITY INFORMATION • No. of Beds in Department: 243 Hospital Beds • Trauma Level: Level III • EMR System: Cerner • Office Equipment Available: Fully equipped emergency department • Specialty Backup Available: General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, OBGYN, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Psychiatry • Support Staff Available: NP/PA coverage 10:00a–6:00p, 2:00p–10:00p, and 4:00p–2:00a • Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Additional Privileging: Cross-credentialing required at affiliated facilities in Harlingen, Weslaco, and Brownsville COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Evaluation and management of emergency medical conditions • Trauma assessment and stabilization • Airway management and resuscitation procedures • Laceration repair and minor surgical procedures JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active Texas Medical License • Board: Board Certified in ABEM or ABOEM, or Board Eligible with ATLS and PALS • DEA: Active DEA Certification • Certifications: ATLS and PALS required if Board Eligible • Experience: Emergency Department clinical experience required • Other Qualifications: Must meet hospital credentialing standards DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients of all ages • Perform assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and procedures as clinically indicated • Manage trauma and high-acuity cases in a Level III trauma center • Collaborate with specialty services and hospital staff for patient disposition • Ensure accurate and timely documentation within Cerner EMR

Requirements

  • Active Texas Medical License
  • Board Certified in ABEM or ABOEM, or Board Eligible with ATLS and PALS
  • Active DEA Certification
  • ATLS and PALS required if Board Eligible
  • Emergency Department clinical experience required
  • Must meet hospital credentialing standards

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients of all ages
  • Perform assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and procedures as clinically indicated
  • Manage trauma and high-acuity cases in a Level III trauma center
  • Collaborate with specialty services and hospital staff for patient disposition
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation within Cerner EMR
