Job Title: Emergency Medicine Physician Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Brownsville, TX Service Setting: Inpatient Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: July 15, 2026 – Ongoing Clinical Shift Schedule: 6:00a – 6:00p and 6:00p – 6:00a Patient Demographics: All Ages Patient Volume/Census: 32,000 annual volume; average 87 encounters per day Admissions: Yes Phone Consults: As clinically appropriate Case Mix: General Emergency Medicine No. of Beds in Department: 243 Hospital Beds Trauma Level: Level III EMR System: Cerner Office Equipment Available: Fully equipped emergency department Specialty Backup Available: General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, OBGYN, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Psychiatry Support Staff Available: NP/PA coverage 10:00a–6:00p, 2:00p–10:00p, and 4:00p–2:00a Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage
Requirements
- Active Texas Medical License
- Board Certified in ABEM or ABOEM, or Board Eligible with ATLS and PALS
- Active DEA Certification
- ATLS and PALS required if Board Eligible
- Emergency Department clinical experience required
- Must meet hospital credentialing standards
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients of all ages
- Perform assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and procedures as clinically indicated
- Manage trauma and high -acuity cases in a Level III trauma center
- Collaborate with specialty services and hospital staff for patient disposition
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation within Cerner EMR
