Adventist HealthCare's Pharmacy is hiring a Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for our Emergency Department in Silver Spring, MD. Qualified candidates will be eligible for up to a $4,000 sign-on bonus. (*Current AHC employees not eligible - see below under additional details.) As a Pharmacy Specialist you will: Evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of the patient's medications. Follow the patient's progress to determine the effects of the patient's medications on his or her health. Consult with the patient's physicians and other health care providers in selecting the medication therapy that best meets the patient's needs and contributes effectively to the overall therapy goals. Review and verify physician orders for appropriateness. Participate in Patient care rounds. Counsel and educate patients about their medications. Serve as a preceptor for Pharmacy resident and students. Educate pharmacists, nurses and physicians. Participate in hospital committees. Participate in Pharmacy Staff monthly meetings and weekly huddles. Emergency Code participation (ACLS and PALs trained). Overseeing Medication History pharmacy technicians.

  • Graduation from an ACPE accredited pharmacy school, with PharmD degree.
  • ASHP accredited PGY-2 Residency, or PGY-1 residency.
  • 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience in area of specialty.
  • Registered Pharmacist with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy.
  • Board Certification in area of specialty (required within one year of employment).
  • ACLS Certification.
  • Member of American Society of Health-system Pharmacists (ASHP), and/or Maryland Society of Health-system Pharmacist (MSHP), or other relevant professional organization.
  • Prior experience precepting students and residents.
