About The Position

Works with other OMSIII clerkship directors to create cohesive curriculum for all core, selective, and required clerkship rotations of RVUCOM. Creates curriculum content for required emergency medicine / critical care clerkship sufficient to augment clinical care activities of the emergency medicine clerkship. Recruit preceptors to expand Emergency Medicine and Critical Care clinical clerkship rotations. Focus Clinical Education Resource personnel efforts to recruit and retain quality preceptors. .25FTE position

  • May be required to transport oneself to other campus offices, conference rooms, and on occasion, to off-campus sites to attend meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.
  • Terminal Degree (MD,DO) from a COCA or LCME accredited College of Medicine.
  • A current IM/BC/BE in Emergency Medicine certification examination.
  • A current license to practice medicine.
  • Seven (7) to nine (9) years of work experience in a health care environment as a preceptor of students matriculated in a health sciences program of study, or Medical School and/or Residency Program work experience.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of Emergency Medicine health care delivery experience with demonstrated compliance with HIPAA or FERPA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development and oversight of all aspects of the emergency medicine clerkship curriculum including delivery of didactics and clinical assessment of student performance.
  • Recruit preceptors for Emergency Medicine / Critical Care COCA required rotation experiences.
  • Works with other OMSIII clerkship directors and the senior associate dean to develop appropriate faculty preceptor development and education
  • Provide support and assistance to Regional Directors in the performance of their duties to increase Emergency Medicine clinical rotation opportunities for students.
  • Assists in the development of assessment tools including standardized patients for evaluation of Emergency Medicine competencies
  • Work in collaboration with Site Coordinators and Site Directors to enhance site-based Emergency Medicine required rotation experiences.
  • Provide support and assist the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Education, Assistant Dean of Clinical Education for Resources and the Clinical Education Manager and Directors.
  • Advise OMSIII and OMSIV students considering careers in Emergency Medicine.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean or his/her designee.
