As a member of the Baptist Hospital Transport Team, the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for the operation of ambulances and serves as the primary driver/operator for patient transport. This position assists in evaluating patient status and needs, and in determining the priority of transport requests. The EMT performs intra-system and inter-facility transports under the oversight of a Paramedic or Registered Nurse/Respiratory Therapist, based on priority triage. The role involves assessing patients and implementing a plan of care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals and under the direction of the transport team physician. Additionally, the EMT is responsible for daily maintenance of the ambulance, including all Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) equipment stored within, maintaining logs, and restocking supplies.
